King's Nympton - Local Information
The village of King's Nympton is ideally situated to explore much of the beautiful North Devon countryside.
The local area is mostly dedicated to agriculture, which in addition to the local rivers provides a beautiful surrounding environment for walking, fishing and other outdoor pursuits. There are also extensive cycling routes, taking you around some of the most glorious North Devon and Exmoor scenery.
Located halfway between Exmoor and Dartmoor, the village of King's Nympton is approximately a 30 minute drive from the beautiful North Devon coast and a 10 minute drive from the traditional market town of South Molton. This gives you the opportunity to sample some of the finest local Devon produce.
South Molton and Chumleigh are approximaetly equi-distant from Kings Nympton and are the nearest towns for shopping. South Molton has a good sized Sainsburys and many other shots whereas Chumleigh has a good SPAR and local butchers etc. For large item shopping Barnstaple or Exeter offer comprehensive facilities.
There is no public transport to the village but Kings Nympton station is approximately 2 miles away and one can jump on this beautiful brance line and take a trip to Exeter or Barnstaple. There are several local taxi services that can be utiised.
Mobile phone reception is OK in the village for O2 and T mobile other networks have connection in some areas.
One other area of significance is King's Nympton Park which is a private estate of some 600 hectares with great heritage, which links closely to that of the village.
The village remains reasonably small with a local population just below 400, split evenly throughout the surrounding rural area and the village itself.
The Grove Inn is the only public house in the village and is approximately 70 metres down the road from the cottage, previously named the New Inn it chose the change to reflect the village's Celtic heritage.
